“When I found out that Memorial had a wing of the hospital dedicated to patients having bariatric surgery and the staff assigned to the wing was specially trained to treat these patients, I knew I was going to be taken care of as if I was family,” she says.
After losing 150 pounds, Nickie no longer suffers from the pain of arthritis and observes, “My surgery and the results have been a life altering experience for me and my family. Walking doesn’t hurt anymore, I climb stairs without having to catch my breath, and I can bend over and tie my shoes.”
She concludes, “Having weight loss surgery is one of the best things I have ever done for myself!”
