Memorial Hospital Foundation was developed in 1975 as the conduit through which private gifts to Memorial Medical Center are sought and managed. Since that time, the Foundation has raised more than $10 million to benefit health care services provided by Memorial. Because Memorial Medical Center is a not-for-profit hospital organization that faces many challenges when competing in the largely for-profit health care industry, the generous support that the Foundation receives from the community is especially valuable.

In addition to accepting charitable gifts, the Foundation conducts annual fund drives to benefit special projects and coordinates various fundraisers to benefit Memorial. Through employee and community donations, the Foundation's SPIRIT Club (Special People Involved Reaching Into Tomorrow) funds special projects and philanthropic efforts, which include a yearly coat and blanket drive and a matching grant program to benefit the needy during the holiday season. Throughout the year, the SPIRIT Club supports the ROCK (Recreational Opportunities for Cancer Kids) program, which organizes monthly activities for children who have cancer. The SPIRIT Club also sponsors the Reach for the Stars Program, which grants a special wish for ROCK kids.
